Nigerian maritime agency pushes for maritime data bank

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dakuku Peterside said that the agency is pushing for a single data window system of all activities in the Nigerian maritime sector in such a way that data required will be available on a single platform, as a maritime data bank to help engender the nation’s economic growth.

Piracy at lowest levels since 1995 - IMB

Cases of piracy and armed robbery against vessels reported to the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) dropped to their lowest level in 22 years in 2017. However, incidents near the Philippines and Somalia bucked the trend by increasing in frequency.
